I know Non-Bronco fans are going to cry foul over this - but Origin has to be rescheduled. The scheduling of origin is farcical and makes the NRL look like a joke. The club footy played during Origin is abysmal... and the fact that it creates a false economy (teams getting cheap wins over storm/broncs etc) is just a disgrace... Origin isn't the ONLY factor to our end-season slumps but without a doubt it is the MAIN contributor... you CANNOT have 5ish players that are the nucleus of start players in your first grade team ABSENT /in and out/backing up games over 9 weeks and have it not affect the season. It is rubbish and disgusting.

It makes me want to vomit knowing that it is not going to be changed in this new 5 yr TV deal.

Totally agree. However, the NRL has chosen money over player welfare for the current rights deal. We will have this problem for the next 5 years.

I disagree that it has as big an effect on the players as is made out. Sure we drop a few games around origin but we get byes and our rep players are rested as well, I believe if you keep telling players how tired they should be and how much effect Origin has on them they will buy into it.

Even so...Origin is our showpiece and if you are going to expect our players to play club football during the Origin period I think you are expecting too much. Origin should be a three week period, be it in the middle or the end of the season and it should be on a stand alone weekend. Give the players a decent rest between games.

I agree with Dexter.

Sure it affects us to a certain degree.

Let's be honest, even though we were winning before Origin, we still sucked.

We don't have that killer instinct any more.

no, Mister Wright is 100% right. Origin scheduling is a joke. No other sport in the world is as retarded as rugby league when it comes to scheduling.

What other sports in the world have representative games, such as our SOO ........ and how do they schedule these rep games into their season?

Soccer, they stop the competition for the rep season.

I think an extra bye each wouldn't hurt.
I hate bye effected rounds, but I would like to see each team get a bye either before or after all 3 Origins. So 6 half rounds.

Wouldn't be upset with a slightly shorter season also. Maybe 22 games instead of the current 24.

The Union take a break for International games and clubs just play friendly games in non union areas. The NBA halt for the week of their All-Stars game and have a week long celebration in the host city.

The AFL for the week of their... oh wait they got nothing.

We have had the bye R11 & 18 ....essentially before and after SOO, this year.

Re: Round 25 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

The fact we played them after a form slump due to the ****ing ridiculous Origin schedule, which has brought the confidence of this young team to the lowest possible threshold, hasn't helped either.

Considering we've had two byes during the SOO period and a couple of the games during this period have been against sides equally (or near to) affected by SOO as us.....I find it difficult to blame SOO for our form slump.

Was either or any of our players injured directly as a result in playing SOO ?

.......it was Griffin's decision to rest certain players, but we have won games in the past with under strength teams.

Can you name any one Brisbane player who in your opinion has suffered from post SOO traumatic stress? Gillett? Other than him, most Broncos players involved have either lifted or have continued to play in the same form they showed prior to the SOO series this year.

Our problems IMO lay much deeper than simply blaming the SOO scheduling...

Origin definitely hurts teams who provide a lot of players. Meanwhile Des Hasler laughs at the rest, only needing to give up about 1 or 2 players a season.

Origin is a major drawcard for Rugby League, it'd be stupid to get rid of it entirely.

The scheduling definitely needs to be addressed though. Physically & Mentally it has too big an impact on each side.

It's not even the Broncos who have struggled this year, look at what it did to Melbourne + Cronulla.
