Isn't it sad that I yearn for those days? It sucked but nowhere near as bad as now.
We literally picked the worst time in our history to be a basket case.

Our lowest point came when NSWRL finally decided to let the good teams bash up on shit teams... at any other point in our history we would've been one of those good teams.

There were many times pre-6 agains where shit teams were kept in the contest by referees changing momentum through relieving penalties and gifting 50/50's to the team that was behind in the game.

In the 6 again era it was far far more difficult for the referee to reverse momentum... once a team was behind it was very difficult for them to get back into a game regardless of how many 6 agains they might be given.

There were no more breaks in the game or kicks to touch to get an easy 30m upfield... Penrith and Parra didn't care about an extra 6 tackles if all they were having to do was belt up on teams for a couple more tackles whilst living offside

Where did that whole South Sydney 2014 meme come from anyways? What specifically led to their premiership run being refereed aided? Of course the only example I can remember is the Broncos-Souths game and even then it seemed like a fair call in the plain light of day?

Was it because they won so many penalty counts?

Constant penalties to get them on the front foot... it's the same as always.

If you're constantly getting penalties on get out sets then you're game is set up... there's no opportunity for the opposition to get into a grind if they're penalised out of it early and then defending their line all game. Plus Souths constantly get put into prime attacking field position, instead of having to slog it out of their own end.

Once Souths get a score up then you get the old "how's Trent?" and suddenly the team that has been defending all game is getting 2-3 back to back penalties on the opposition try line that effectively mean nothing when compared to 3 single penalties on get out sets to get you 30m down field each time.

Well the ground being bathed in red / green light and playing”glory, glory to South Sydney” every 5 minutes”, didn’t bode well for the Doggies that day as I recall, thinking that while watching the game at the ground that day…

I recall being a bit disgusted by how blatant it was, tbh.

I’m no Doggies fan, but how blatant and one-sided the desired result was that day, was tough to stomach…

So now that the storm have statistically ended the warriors season, does Walsh want to come home yet?
I bet he can't wait to cop a similar result when the Storm travel over to Mt Smart Stadium in July

Broncos should be on the phone to walsh tomorrow. I dont think he will feel great about remaining at the warriors after tonight.

I know he was on the losing side but the little bugger tried.

we could only talk to him about the 2024 season

We better not be.

Technically yes, but given how little value there is on contracts, there could always be an out.
Isn't there a not wanting to go to NZ clause?
Hope his mates at the club Haas, Riki, Piakura etc are straight on the phone to him tonight and Ikin and DD are onto it tomorrow.

I haven't heard of an actual clause in his contract about not going to NZ.

he's just realised that the Warriors won't stay based in QLD forever, so he reportedly wants out when they do move home

the Warriors CEO wants the media punished by the NRL for the continued speculation Walsh wants out.

we can get on the phone to him, but we could only talk about the 2024 season unless the Warriors give us permission
