Funny story about Michael Bani. He is now a theatre actor in musical theatre circuit. He was in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play, saw him act when I went to the play in Melbourne last year. Saw the name and said, yep he was an NRL player!!!!
Palmer Wapau - have a vague recollection that a Newpaper article stated he was a prop who played 5/8th and a lot of buzz when he made his debut for us.
Imaging if he was around at the same time as Taupau --> the Kapow bros.
Shaun Fensom - not an overly obscure player, however was one of my most...
3. Patty. Ironman, insane game. Carrying the team in the absence of Reynolds and Hass
2. Willison - brilliance from X man. Ideal impact forward. Will be an absolute behemoth in the future
1. Staggs. Had a great game, many runs back into the defence with venom.
Shoutout to Jensen. Really good...
I think we are really feeling the loss of Flegs and Herbie more than I was anticipating. We had absolutely no go forward last night, compounded by the loss of Hass, and there's only so much Patty can do on his own.
I was thinking that we basically sacrificed herbie and flegs to keep Willison...
I was going to blame the Vegas experiment as the cause for all these injuries, but they're happening across all teams including those who remained at home. Really odd, is it just a freak occurrence early in the season? This is the worst injury toll I've seen in a long long time.
A broncos player will get binned first if the bunker / refs crack down on similar head high contact, similar to how Patty and Hass were binned/charged first during the crackdown for hip drops (call me cynical .....)
Another one to add to the Broncos conspiracy theory. I wonder whether the result would be the same if someone like Tedesco, Turbo or dare I say Chin Cleary suffered a Walsh like head clash injury ...
Its only just really starting to sink in now, but I'm getting a bit worried about next year. Late year and even into finals I wasn't. I wasn't too upset about Herbie and Flegs going, given Herbie's issues with passing (and hence bombing trys) and Flegs being a penalty and error magnet. However...
Damn, I was hoping we would play Saturday night purely because the one year we are back in the finals and doing well, I'm off to a national conference for my work/profession and the damn official dinner is Friday night. Was going to try and get game tickets too if we were playing saturday
Kevie (and DD but this is all about Kevie) is the best thing to happen to the Broncos in years. He is 100% Broncos and the heart and soul of the Broncos and what better person to lead us out of the darkest times in our history. His leadership along with Reynolds on the field, has transformed us...
Very fair point, all the more reason to get rid of fines and go back to suspensions. I just assumed players payed the fines, but I'm not sure. Though didnt Ryan Matterson elect to get suspended instead of paying fines, which ended up dis-advantaging Parra? I remember there was a big controversy...
Same with Luai, I just don't understand how his is a grade 1 and Burgess is grade 2. Very similar and Luai didn't even attract a penalty.
Initially I thought the fine system for repeated offences would be OK, but its really a terrible system and has no real dis-incentive for the player or...
Yea, it was a dangerous action but technically did not actually make contact. Thats why I think it should have been charged as contrary conduct instead of dangerous contact.
Technically he should be exonerated of the 'dangerous contact' charge. Of course that will never happen. I'd love to...
