Don't get me wrong, I hate the storm but before we had the Storm rivalry, the dogs were big rivals too... and we had some powerhouse matches against each other... I don't think I'll ever be able to cheer them on... so in this case, it would be the lesser of two evils.
At the end of the day, one...
Slater 6? I don't think so....
His try saver was 'the' moment IMO. If he doesn't do that... down by 4 with the home crowd going crazy... without a doubt the biggest play of the GF. It was definitely a 'wow' moment.
Still need at least ONE 'superstar' or 'x-factor' player in the 1/6/7/9. History has shown. Look at the top 4 teams now.
I can't even remember a team that hasn't won a GF without a gun player within the 1/6/7/9.
Hoffman, Norman, Wallace, Andrew M.
You can't sit there and tell me one of them...
I wouldn't discount Hodges at FB just because of his age.
We can use it as a short term plan for a title if we want... no value in it apart from that... but as someone has mentioned... our 1/6/7/9 ain't good enough to win a comp unless 1 of them can be 'the' player... it's meant to be Wallace...
It was terrible to watch some of it. The mistakes.... seriously you can't make those sort of mistakes in finals footy and if you are serious about the title.
For mine, The Broncs needed a rest anyway. Pick themselves up and start fresh next season. Something has to be done about...
^Exactly...
If RL could just all work together - we'd be so much better off.
It would also give the players a damn break --> get over any niggling injuries and what not... it's a WIN WIN...
helps the rep players out by not having to back up + they are not 'in and out' of their clubs...
Why not consecutive?
TV deal logistics aside --> I really see a 3 week consecutive model working. Mid season break --> QLD v NSW --> Same teams versing each other three times... it is a beaut! Also... this way... hopefully this transitions into --> win the series 2-0 ... presentation gets...
It might be tight early on but the Cows can run away with it once they get 8 or so ahead IMO.
Either way - if we can walk off with our heads held high... a win would be a BONUS IMO..... judging by the past month.
I don't want to be a doomsayer but even if we win .... taking on Dogs/Manly...
Re: Sack Griffin
I'm a bit of a fence sitter on this one, because when Origin time comes around - it's all about QLD for me as well...
In saying that... premierhips are the holy grail and when finals time comes around and we're a real chance... nothing beats september football. (i.e...
I said Origin scheduling wasn't the ONLY factor. I did say MAIN and perhaps that might be stretching it but you can't deny that it is not a SIGNIFICANT factor... I really think you'd be grasping at straws if you didn't think this was the case.
Furthermore, taking aside our Bronco perspective...
WB biggest flop this year? --> Disagree. IMO Sandow for sure.
WB fail @ Knights this year? -->Agree but the term 'fail' might be harsh, but defs not overall successful. Some positives but overall as someone said even WB would probably admit he couldve handled a few things better. I think they...
I know Non-Bronco fans are going to cry foul over this - but Origin has to be rescheduled. The scheduling of origin is farcical and makes the NRL look like a joke. The club footy played during Origin is abysmal... and the fact that it creates a false economy (teams getting cheap wins over...
Honestly, the reffing has been terrible this year... They have had a bad year - no denying that.
They need to re-look the obstruction rule in the off season IMO... I think we have to go back to: if you run the second man decoy play, you HAVE to pass out the back or behind the decoy... you...
Gotta admit, Melbourne hate dying...
I have to say, I'd love to see JT win it at the cows but I can't trust them away.
I'd love to see the Bunnies win, 1 final series in the last 10 years or something, and then to win a GF... that would be pretty epic.
If Knights make it, would love to see...
Gillett is a real worry...
To be fair you can't blame recruitment for letting Teo go, SOMEONE had to go... they had to make a call. I really hope Gillett repays the faith... though I think Teo would have cost two young guns anyway. I have to say, I was more of the 'keep teo' bandwagon... but...
I just don't think moving Norman to 6 now is the answer, you have to give him the full year there - no matter what. IMO.
If we are serious about this year in ANY shape or form - we have to go out against the Eels and really give it to them. If we can't do that then it just shows our mental...
... was going to start this thread myself...
i.e. Can we beat the Dogs/Manly on GF day at ANZ? Esp Dogs? hmmmmmmmmm.... Not oozing confidence there. If anything I think we'll have a better chance against the storm and that is praying Slater has an off day... I don't know... the 6/7 worry me...
BIG time. Honestly if it wasn't for their forwards those halves wouldn't be able to carry a team against top teams. Add Barba to that. Reminds me of the Broncs after Alfie retired and we had no 7/6 and we relied on our forwards and Locky at 1. Honestly it just shows how shite our competition is...
