There's no other team in the competition I struggle to pick more than the Warriors. I'd say we're on the same boat with the Warriors, just with a couple of minor variations. For the sake of consistensy here's my line-up
Warriors 2025
1. Taine Tauapiki
2. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
3. Charnze...
The John Bateman signing makes more sense now.
Tough blow for the Cowboys and it's some horrible luck for Luki. Just when he gets a string of games together and reminds you of how good he is he suffers another set-back.
McSweeney's time will come, it's better to bring these blokes in around established test players instead of letting the blind lead the blind (or so to speak).
I'm excited to see what Konstas brings.
This was in relation to life after DCE if he decides to retire at the end of his contract. So 6. T. Trbojevic 7. L. Brooks but like I said it came across more like food for thought and just a way to spin the conversation onto how great Tommy is.
It's interesting you say that Sproj because Seibold just came out today and talked about Trbojevic shifting into the halves to replace DCE. I think it's just food for thought at this stage and Seibold has declared Trbojevic will be the fullback heading into 2025.
If Trbojevic was to switch to...
A week out from Christmas and I'm beginning to get the itch for more Rugby League so let's turn our minds to the season ahead.
Let's kick off with JayPee's team the Cowboys in light of the Bateman signing.
North Queensland Cowboys 2025
1. Scott Drinkwater
2. Semi Valemei/Jaxson Paulo/Robert...
Value for money - Bateman's contract would be subsidised by the Tigers and it's only for two years. Theoretically it gives them some much needed depth around the Origin period and gives them the ability to manage Shibasaki who's a quality player.
It's definitely a gamble and the Cowboys have...
It was a frustrating day and you'd have to wonder what impact that will have on the Australians. They've had all the momentum since Head and Smith's partnership, but the stop start nature really disrupted their momentum and India did well to seemingly send this match to a draw.
Judging by his reported salary, they viewed him as a regular first grader.
The issue is that I don't think the Broncos did their due diligence. It felt like a very reactive signing instead of having their systems in place to produce that style of player.
Look, the Broncos bring through plenty...
$300,000 was always a gamble. I was hopeful it would pay off because like you I saw some decent qualities but it was definitely a case of wait and see.
Fingers crossed for Baker. Hopefully we see improvements across the board and they all help prop one another up. Last year it seemed like only...
I didn't hate the signing at the time. I thought his mobility, skill-set and stamina could compliment the team. However I couldn't name one performance where I would want to go out and instantly have him in my starting side.
Mind you, a 'pretty good' signing for me would be borderline...
The issue was the Broncos found themselves in a position where they had four hookers on the roster. That would have been tenable in '23 but something had to give in '24. When they committed to Paix they either had to do one of two things.
Fashion him as a back-up half and provide him with more...
Absolutely.
It's not even the past eighteen months. It's been his entire career and how it's virtually been all down-hill since 2018. There was nothing wrong with the decision to sign Paix to begin with. He was a stand-out player of his age division, a winner with attributes you'd want in a...
Exactly, they were able to get rid of them meanwhile the Broncos are stuck with their mistakes.
Smith was off-contract at the end of the season and Melbourne didn't want to re-sign him. He was able to organise a deal in the ESL and the club he signed for were willing to take him ASAP...
Every re-signing is, judge each case on it's own merit otherwise it's a boy who cried wolf situation.
Pezet for instance came from the Knights junior system. His dad worked for the club as a senior member of their recruitment team before he was unceremoniously sacked. Jonah left the club...
Penrith have lost all these players but Melbourne have hardly lost anyone of note in the same time span, Melbourne had all that success and had to sign the big four and then signed Crocker (nope), Blore and Katoa had significant interest etc.
Among others, I'm not here to keep score but you...
The issue is that every signing/re-signing they make is apparently suspicious. I understand what happened 15 years ago is going to follow them from here to eternity but this Pezet re-signing isn't even a blip on the radar.
The fact is some of you don't even have your facts straight and when...
We've been through this, Melbourne have lost a stack of senior players on their roster that would have been valuable under the salary cap. Your argument of 'well they didn't want them anyway' doesn't change that.
We've been through Penrith as well. Melbourne went through their rebuild cycle...
