I loved our set play that led to the Gillett try - the inside ball to an angled runner. Pretty sure we used it another time in the game as well to good effect. Don't remember seeing anything like that last season, so it is great to see a new play that Hook/coaching staff and players have put...
Poor discipline played a big role as well tonight (apart from the obvious like kicking game etc). Some of those penalties we conceded with absolutely stupid, and some poor knock ons as well.
Our halves have improved from last week though, and I think Hunt is kicking a bit better than last week. Remember that Thurston has had a couple of poor kicks tonight as well, so its not as if Hunt is kicking so much more terribly than others.
I noticed these two opportunities as I was watching the game as well. The first one I reckon would have dead set been a simple try. Second one, I agree that Reed is too flat, but once Hoffman gets to the outside of Reed, all he had to do was pass to Vidot and it would have / should have been a...

First decision - Lowrie out, Oates in (as a 2nd rower)
However, by the time Oates is back from injury, Lowrie may have already been replaced, so this first decision might be a moot point anyway
Good solid game first up, great gutsy win after we were dead on our feet for the last 30 or so minutes. Defence was fantastic, hopefully it will continue to improve and not return to the shocking formations that occurred last year, Attack still needs work, but geez Barba made a huge difference...
I honestly don't see the point of Parker at prop just to fit all of Gillett, Thaiday and Glenn in the back row. Really pointless IMO, especially when it means it will force both McGuire and Kennedy on the bench (most likely with Hannant starting?) I haven't waived from my views about 5/8th...
Just on contracts, I feel quite disheartened that a some of the southern media is saying that what Milford is doing is completely wrong and that he should man up and cop the extra year in Canberra. On Fox Sports News, Hindmarsh was saying that he finds what Milford is doing is highly unjust for...
I've played NRL Dream Team for the last 7 or so years, so I know the ins and outs of fantasy teams and stats breakdowns. I admit Reed isn't a great player from a fantasy team viewpoint, but nor was Locky. Locky was a very poor half in dream team, as was Foran. Even Slater and Bowan were poor...
I remember in Reed's debut year of 2011, he pulled off some brilliant tries and attacking play, such as stealing the ball out of the opposing player's hands mid-air when jumping for the ball. He did stagnate a bit in attack this year and bombed a few tries by not passing the ball to his...
On the topic of star players, I remember reading a while back that there is a rule in which a certain number of players in the team must be 'star' players or top tier players in order to stop clubs from sending a U20's or fringe player squad over. I think the Storm wanted to prevent Slater...
David Furner apparently likely to join the Cowboys as an assistant coach.
Sacked Canberra coach David Furner set to join North Queensland Cowboys | News.com.au
Yea I'm still very wary of Kev as head coach for this very reason. I'm prepared to give Hook another season in the hope that the excellent changes to the rest of the coaching staff will improve our performance next year, as well as hopefully improve Hook's coaching skills as well.
Kev I think...
I agree as well, Reed is grossly under-rated by both Broncos fans and also the general NRL public. He has pulled off some brilliant tries and I love his attitude and heart. I remember in his debut season he was scoring memorable tries, particularly ones where he jumped and stole the ball...
