How much longer is Hodges out for? We'd be scraping the barrell a bit now. Dell on the wing, Darius/Issy to the centres? Esi Tonga, Steve Michaels?? Is Mogg still playing in England?? Is Tomane a Queenslander?
Those two video ref decisions in the first half seemed like they were trying to keep NSW in the game. The Harrison try wasn't pretty, but if it's awarded it's more than likely game over. And since when is the man playing the ball allowed to tackle the markers? Could have been 24-6 at half time...
I thought it was Oake that got Kemp but still [icon_non
The only player I don't mind from that team is Mateo and he's injured. If Parramatta put a big score on us, mad Monday might as well be rescheduled to 29/6/09.
Did anyone else think that the Kade Snowden try was a terrible call by the video ref? The game was clearly over, but in a closer game I think it would have been a very controversial call. For mine it was an obstruction AND a knock on and couldn't believe it when the commentators said they were...
Pisspoor effort from our boys. Our pack was virtually at full strength, there's no excuse for conceding so many points. A couple of years ago we had a baby broncos side play Manly at Brookvale and if I recall correctly they only lost 18-6. And even though their attack was ordinary they stood up...
Gee that 2001 series was awesome. It'll always be remembered for Alfie's fairytale comeback but Lockyer was outstanding. Even in the game we lost he was head and shoulders above the other Queenslanders.
I wonder what they'll do if Barrett can't play. Do they play Wing there and bring in a forward or do they call back Campese, whose confidence has probably been shattered? Or they could call back Joey again. He's probably still better than the other halves they've got running around.
There were several bad decisions in that game that went against Queensland. The NSW knock on ruled a strip which Tonie Carroll scored from, the aforementioned Hodgson knock-on and an incorrect knock-on ruled against Thurston which led to a NSW try come to mind. NSW had a lot of luck in that...
Nah I love Tatey. Scored an awesome try in that game. More that the other centre was a reserve grader, a fullback on one wing and about our third or fourth choice on the other wing and at fullback. But all of them rose to the occasion and did their jobs.
Dell's lost a bit of pace but you know his ego's too big to embarrass himself on the big stage. He also gets through a lot of work to help out the forwards and against the Titans came up with some big plays. Neither he or Tonga would let us down.
Kind of like a few years back when they picked Barrett at halfback only for him to be injured and them being forced to pick Johns. I think we all remember how that turned out.
Kudos to the ref for backing himself and making a tough call at a crucial stage of a game. Refs are criticised for putting the whistle in their pockets at the end of tight games and in golden point. The ref thought he saw foul play and subsequently blew the penalty. Watching the replays, you...
Backlines are a bit overstated in origin. Queensland won a few years ago with a back five of Schifcofske, Wesser, Hannay, Tate and Mogg - hardly world beaters. This series will be largely hinged on the forward battle and the respective kicking games, both areas where NSW look stronger this year...
Who else do they put there then? Campese has been ordinary lately and Newcastle have been on fire. In Mullen's favour is his combination with Gidley. I guess they could also go with Luke Lewis there and play Gidley at second receiver in attack.
The fastest try I can remember was in Origin 3 2001, Alfie's comeback game. From memory Queensland dropped the ball on the first hitup and NSW scored from the ensuing scrum. Might have been 30-something seconds.
It's got nothing on that one though. But I must say although the bounce was very...
