If Canberra make it at the expense of us, I will be behind them, even if it's only for a week. When they're on their game, I don't think there's a better team to watch. Although they can be frustrating to watch when not on their game.
St George Illawarra probably deserve to win, given that they...
Well, you can't really claim to have been robbed when you lose by that kind of margin, but the officials are probably very lucky that the game wasn't close. Having said that, the broncos were denied possession, field position and momentum via some very ordinary decisions.
Goal line defense left...
This is the worst officiting performance I have seen since origin 3 2006. How we didn't get a penalty try or at least Gidley in the bin is beyond me. Then Gidley scores the first try. Then they get an incorrect six again and another try. Meanwhile they have their hands all over the ball in every...
Especially given how stubborn he's been at admitting he's wrong in the past. For example, missed knock ons in 2000 origin game 1 and incorrect penalty in the 1989 grand final.
Mullen's been named to play despite having broken ribs. I'd be getting Ben Te'o to test him out. While on that, is rib cartilage a worse injury than broken ribs? Or is it more of an age thing as to why Mullen's fit to play and Lockyer's out?
I don't think our props were that bad. Tronc's second phase play definitely adds something to our attack and I thought that Anderson and McGuire really added something when they come off the bench. We have a strong backrow with a high workload, which makes a dominant front row less essential...
Worst performances I can remember:
* 2000 State of Origin game 1 - 2 missed knock ons by Harrigan
* 2002 State of Origin game 3 - Lockyer no try. NSW get the ball and score soon after to seemingly win the series, before Carlaw's last ditch try.
* 2002 preliminary final, roosters v broncos...
Did you see the try Parramatta scored against Manly today? That's the sort of thing that makes the highlight reels. Not Soward punting the ball 15m over the dead ball line on the full. Why is that important do you ask? That is the sort of thing that brings fans through the gate and gets more...
The underarm bowl was a "tactic" too. I hate Hayne as much as the next person, but I think it's to the detriment of the game having teams play negative football just to negate him. I wouldn't outlaw kicking it dead or anything that extreme, but make it more risky by saying that if the ball goes...
PJ was one of my favourite players back in 2002 before his injury. It was very courageous for him to come back, and he did play some good games for Parramatta. But he never had quite the same spark. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do now PJ.
