I probably could have explained myself better. I don't think they're cheating the cap. I was merely pointing out that they've done very well in their selection of player recruitment/retention. The proof is in the pudding - they're the first side to make four consecutive grand finals in over...
But Cronk's hardly a superstar - take him out of Melbourne and I doubt he'd have the same impact. The other three however probably would be on close enough to that. They'll just keep turning over the fringies and replacing them with equally capable players. I have great respect for what they've...
That's just good recruitment and retention. They identified their key players and keep rebuilding around them when they lose other players. Bellamy seems to be good at turning no-names into solid first graders and getting good young kids to reach their potential. Who had heard of Jeff Lima...
Well what can I say. There was nothing wrong with the effort, as evidenced by Izzy's try on the siren. I think we really missed Wallace out there. Definitely not saying we would have won with him out there, but his kicking game and the pressure he takes off Lockyer would have kept us in the game...
I think it's a good thing and I'm looking forward to the game. Good on Sydney for getting behind it. Usually I bag out their poor crowds, but it will be awesome to see this one played in front of a packed house.
Does anyone else think it's a silly time to release the draw? I thought it would be better in the offseason when interest is starting to wane a bit to get everyone excited again. It's pretty much going to go unnoticed with the big Parramatta vs Bulldogs game on Friday night.
Wow, so this is like the sixth year in a row that we've met the Storm at some time throughout the finals series! The only one we've won was the biggest of them all. This one will be the second biggest, let's hope we can replicate 2006.
What a game! The fowards set it up in the opening minutes with some brutal defence. Brilliant tactics predicting that they'd gang up on Taylor, that inside ball to Karmichael was magic. Bring on Melbourne! Hopefully Wallace will be there, but if not Hunt will relish coming into a confident side...
I heard hamstring. Hopefully he'll be okay, I can remember an origin a few years back when he was in extreme doubt with a hamstring injury and ended up playing. He took an intercept and ran it 90m for a try.
Otherwise maybe we can look at it as a blessing in disguise. Glenn is very sound...
What's funny with them not stopping the game, is that on NRL on fox John Cartwright was saying how his team benefits from a fast game with not too many stoppages. If they stopped the clock for Rogers and subsequently got pinned deep in their territory, they would have been whinging too.
After going to the game at Skilled Park last week, I think the Titans have got the right idea with the Legion. Most, if not all of the Titans chants started from that area. If the Broncos marketed a section where people were encouraged to be loud and really get behind the team, and not be...
One problem with the AFL system, is that if results go as predicted (ie all higher ranked teams win) you get 1 v 3 and 2 v 4 in the preliminary final, theoretically giving team 2 an easier path to the grand final.
I agree completely, a few years ago a similar thing happened with Penrith vs Dragons although that game was decided only by one point. Penrith got a week off and Dragons got eliminated. Huge difference.
You could argue that Lyon's multiple suspect tries against us could have seen them bow out -...
The titans got a lot of momentum from that intercept to Gordon and it was hard for the broncos to reverse it. How important did Lockyer's chase become when we were only up by two late in the game? Defence needs a lot of work, we made the likes of Walker and Meyers look much better than they...
