This goes in circles for ever. Broncos are a business success story, an on field success story and the club is an off field success story.
Sydney Clubs struggle for market share.
Super League fixed this.
"Traditionalists" claim Super League will kill the "spirit" of the game.
We had a marge...
Rumour has it, Mal has told the entire team this is the beginning of the new era. Not only are they distancing themselves from the "Locky" era, Cam Smith has taken this series personally as his first season as QLD (& Australian) captain.
I'm going to go with 2013. I am very confident this year; however it's inevitable that they win a series. Statistics are against us.
That said I will rue the day they do win, and will be jumping around proclaiming how great they are and singing the praises of the current crop of NSW...
Unsure if this has been discussed previously. Apologies if it has, I couldn't find a thread. Just heard a piece on the radio about how certain players/coaches have come out and called for SoO games to only be played in Brisbane and Sydney. That Melbourne and (the ever closer) the prospect of...
Why do you talk crap about players and coaches on the internet, then when someone says anything even remotely derogatory about you on the internet, you cry to the admins like an 8 year old girl?
What about the fact QLD passion/spirit started when QRL was very strong? QLD fans had 60+ years of rivalry AND then the "big shots" who had gone to Sydney also came back to a QLD squad, yet QLDers accepted & vehemently supported the QLD team.
I think that shows the tribalism theory is poor.
Re: Official NSW 2012 Squad
Some people are counting their chickens early; Carney/Pearce is the best halves combo NSW could have picked. Farrah is easily the best 9, Uate is a monster, Borris great form, Jayne always plays well for NSW, Jennings great speed & B Stewart is quality on his worst...
Thanks for the selective quoting...but you and your bestie BM still haven't started listing the passionate acts by players wearing skyblue.
I'll start for you; Luke O'Donnell (grub that he is) standing up and taking on the entire QLD forward pack. Stupid, but shows passion.
Now I'm...
Since this concept of passion is so subjective & most NSWkers would never admit how QLD is SWAMPED in maroon during Origin, yet you barely see a Blue jersey outside of Homebush when Sydney host a game; I guess all we can do is compare the stories of both states come from behind wins & heroic...
With my work, I've had the opportunity to meet most of the 2000 - 2007 Broncos & except a few, everyone has been genuinely happy to say hello & many very down to earth. I think it really depends on when & how you interact with them.
The guys who went out of their way to chat to me were Civo...
A true gentleman on & off the field. Always has time for a chat, even on a sunday when he's relaxing with his family, he's polite & genuinely happy.
For those that have met him around the place, I'm sure you would agree, Petero is one of those rare footballers who are genuinely grateful for...
The (imo ridiculous) link in another thread, stating that Gallen could be the best forward in 50 years, got me thinking about how different generations perceive past generations in a RL context.
There seems to be a belief that players today, who are fully professional, are more skilful...
