I don't think he was being selfish, I think he was just trying to give himself every chance of playing by taking it one game at a time and seeing how the knee felt afterwards (with the help and advice of the medical staff). Unfortunately his knee hasn't pulled up well and he's made the decision...
I'm absolutely shattered for him. I think a lot of people are quick to criticise him for rushing back etc. He has done everything asked of him by the medical staff and does not deserve another set back. You've got to understand what the game means to him and how much he wanted to be apart of...
