It certainly is tense - Shark out to +7 now but still tied for the lead. I reckon the thing he has in his favour is that there is no expectation on him to win this event, he just needs to stay calm and maybe it will be survival of the fittest.
Agree with you comments about his status in the...
This is by far the hardest position to pick I reckon. I went for Webcke and Backo but could have easily picked so many others. Guys like Bella and Gavin Allen were enormous for Qld in Origin, Price and Petero have been Qld's best over the last 3 series and Dowling was a fearless leader of our...
Interesting how people see different things in different games. I remember thinking Tallis could have tried harder in Origin - sure his passion was there in the lead up to the game and in the dressing room but I just never saw it out on the field. When I think of who put their hand up for Qld...
I can't believe Tallis is almost the #1 pick in this poll - his record in Origin is poor, the only things he ever did was tackle Hodgson and get sent off. Similar to Mason IMO - did plenty of talking in the lead up to games but very rarely delivered.
These are my observations on Ennis
A large percentage of his attacking kicks have no chasers - to me that means he does not communicate with the team. I am all for guys having a go and if he sees something he should go for it but it is vital he communicates that to the team
He is extremely...
A win is a win whether it's by 1 or 40 and I actually thought it was a good effort to win this game.
I agree with the comments about Hannant - he just looks to have lost his way at the moment and is not having the impact he used to. Luckily Kenny, Sammy T, Eastwood and Corey provided most of...
I reckon the reason Hannat has secured such a good contract is that there is a lack of quality front rowers in the NRL at the moment. Look at Origin - the 2 best forwards on the field were well into their 30's and gave the young blokes a lesson. Each NRL team probably has 5-6 props in their top...
If it was a back I would love to sign Michael Jennings from the Panthers - Locky could turn him into the next Renouf.
In the forwards I agree with Mateo but I also would love to see Corey Paterson from the Knights in a Broncos jersey -this kid is the real deal.
I agree with getting rid of scrums but it will really take some of the excitement from our game. Remember the days Alf would fling it wide to Kevin Walters from the back of the scrum who would get Renouf on the outside of his man and the pearl would scream down the touchline to score? Scrums are...
I reckon we will see some really good football from Clinton over the next few weeks, especially while our Origin players are unavailable. To me he looks to be working into some good form and hopefully we will see the best of him soon. I hope PJ can get through the Origin series in one piece...
Queenslander you sound like a guy I used to know who put $1 on every horse in a race! [icon_lol1.
I hope you end up in front mate but do you make a profit on every combination you take or do you have an even stake on every outcome?
Ennis is definately playing good footy but gee he does some dumb things. He has plenty of skill so doesn't need to have all this niggle crap in his game. Sure he set up our try tonight and did plenty of good things but the penalty he gave away to give the Sharks their first try was pathetic.
McCullough is equally at home at 5/6, Lock or Hooker - I know he played Qld under 18's last year and I think he represented Australian schoolboys. He is from Dalby in South West Qld. Found this article about the Under 18's game at Telstra Stadium last year before Origin and he gets a mention...
Our team will definately lark spark with Stagg and Perry (I will never bag Staggy as he gives his all for us week after week) but if you ignore those 2 spots we are still going to have a classy forward pack and a pretty good bench. We will win this with our defence though. A couple of things...
Exactly Tee - Ashton tried to smash him but came off second best - that made Perry look like he was the big man when he is clearly that cat. No was he would have got away with that sort of thing with Gordie, Kevin Campion etc around
He might have missed but I think he wanted to hit him - his forearm was definately cocked and ready to whack Wallace. It was vintage Perry though and I am still annoyed that no-one wanted to get in his face about it - he wouldn't jump on Webcke, Petero or Thorn if it was them lying there.
Doubt he would run in the Straddy - he might carry WFA but the rest of the field would be weighted beautifully to beat him. An up and coming horse like El Cambio will carry 51-52kg, Apache Cat would face a huge task to beat horses like him.
