U r not a write off nings, you are special man, you really are. The game was different back then, the Broncos had a complete love affair with the folk of Brissy as it was literally the only game in town. Union was still an amateur sport, soccer was almost non existent and Lions were called the Bears and played out of Carrara where they would get smashed by 100 pts. U really had to scramble to get a decent ticket as ANZ would pack out every match even against the comp lightweights. I recall attending a WCC match in 1993 vs Wigan and it contained the best atmosphere of any sporting event that I have ever been to, the Broncos lost that night but I walked away knowing that I had just been part of something amazing. Of course a couple years later, the SL war emerged which drove fans away in droves, in 97 I attended a match vs the London Broncos which only attracted 8,000 fans, the game fell apart in a very short period of time. Fans walked away from the Broncs and started following other codes. At the same time, union became professional and cashed up, the Lions became an AFL powerhouse and soccer currently is more than a minor sport. The love affair between the Broncos and Brisbane quickly disappeared and has never reached that early to mid 90's level to date or even close as four codes in Brisbane now exist and all do pretty well. I wish u could have been around back then triple n because u r a pretty cluey dude and maybe u would understand why I (and many other of the older guys) are so critical of the fucking shipwreck that dare to call themselves the Brisbane Broncos. I was part of the glory days and I will never forget the wild ride.
