1. Josh Hoffman – 7/10. Very good season, especially regarding his defence. He will learn and become more proficient in attack, making him a potent weapon in the future. 2. Antonio Winterstein – 4/10. Couldn't reproduce his form from last year and became a target for the opposition's bombs due to his aerial deficiencies. Always put in a solid effort and was one of our best dummy half runners. 3. Israel Folau – 8/10. Worked tirelessly and developed into one of the best centres in the game. His 20 tries, line breaks and pure strength were always threatening and gave us plenty of advantage. Only needs to learn to pass to better positioned players. 4. Alex Glenn – 6/10. THE utility of the Broncos, filling in plenty of spots in the team with enough competence everywhere. Did quite well as centre. 5. Jharal Yow Yeh – 6/10. Intermittent form lowered his score. Capable of astonishing things, but still raw and gullible, being one of the kids that dropped his head most often during our season slumps . Needs to lift his game coming season and having Hodges next to him should help. 6. Darren Lockyer – 9/10. His best season since 2006! I would dare say he defended better than ever and although his speed isn't what it used to be, he guided our young team around the park with purpose and remains our most creative player by far. 7. Peter Wallace – 5/10. Lacked creativity and leadership, but was pressured by inexistent go forward and slow play the ball from the hooker(s) for most of the season. Was apparently under an injury cloud most of the season, which probably also influenced his game negatively. Will need fair improvement next season with Hunt breathing down his neck. 8. Shane Tronc – 7/10. Entered the club at a grave time for our forward pack, instantly gaining a starting spot. Despite his slowness, he was the best prop by a mile. Great work rate, good defence and good offload in attack. 9. Andrew McCullough – 5/10. Showed what he is capable of in the last games of the season, indicating he’s willing and capable to take leadership and responsibility. Very good defensively, he clearly struggles in the ruck against fast play the balls. He also needs to deliver better and especially faster service from dummy half. Still, he does remind me of a young Cameron Smith though… 10. Nick Kenny – 5/10 Was never the same after returning from injury, and was a part of our biggest problem: Lack of go forward and good defence in the ruck. 11. Sam Thaiday – 9/10. Simply the best 2nd row player of the comp. Went to a new level, playing 80 mins or close to it in most games. Had an unfortunate dip at the time we needed him most. He is most devastating running at the fringes. 12. Ben Te’o – 8/10. Another member of our awesome back line. Worthy successor of Tunza in the hard hits dept, has versatility, speed and good mobility. 13. Corey Parker – 8/10. Mister dependable. Like the previous two, a part of the strongest sector of the team by far, his work rate, offloads and reliability makes him an essential part of the team. Probably lacks the aura necessary for a captain and it showed when Locky was missing. Improved his goal kicking this season! 14. Matt Gillett – 7/10. Rookie of the year and yet another reason why we probably have the best second row of the competition. A very good defender, he is strong yet deceptively fast, has good ball skills, good offload and impressive mobility. 15. Scott Anderson – 5/10. Belongs in the same row as his fellow props. Needs to improve, but has room for it given his age. Showed in patches he can be a good aggressive runner of the ball. 16. Josh McGuire – 5/10. The same can be said of Josh as above, but discipline is also a factor working against him. Still young and promising though. 17. Ben Hunt – 6/10. Faster and more creative than Macca, he lacks the defensive ability to ever become a full-time hooker. Definitely the half back of the future, but needs patience until Wallace moves on to 5/8, hooker or even out of the club. 18. Corey Norman – 4/10. Clearly not up to the pressure cooker that is the NRL, despite his very good debuts in respectively fullback and 5/8 positions. He is way too nonchalant in his attitude, especially regarding defence and needs to grow up a fair bit. Being so young, he can improve a lot and has the talent for it. Will he…? 19. Mitchell Dodds – 5/10. Has an excellent defence technique and hits hard, generally stopping whoever he hits on his tracks and putting him on his backside. Lacks aggression in attack and needs to take more hitups. Ivan Henjack – 4/10. Seems to let his ego get ahead of the team’s interests. Lacks ability to motivate the team in its direst moments. Although loyal to his players, his selections are worthy of a Stephen King novel sometimes. Set plays look to be reminiscent of WB’s time. There doesn’t seem to be any study of the adversaries or an appropriate game plan to counter their most potent weapons, and without Lockyer guiding it, our team is almost an anarchy, making me question his ability to coach any NRL team, much less the Broncos!
