[QUOTE="Super Freak, post: 2710250, member: 8536"] Bundaberg will host the NRL Grand Final rematch in 2016 when the Brisbane Broncos take on the reigning champions, the North Queensland Cowboys for a trial game in the sugar city. The game will held on February 6 at Salter Oval with chairman of Bundaberg Rugby League Mike Ireland saying it will be the biggest games of footy the city has ever seen. "Back in early 1992 we had two matches here and I think we had something like 12,000 people," he said. "With the success of the Broncos and Cowboys in 2015 we'll get 10-12,000 people here no problems at all. "The Broncos and the Cowboys will have one match before they play in the World Cup Challenge in England. "They'll be bringing their marquee players to Bundaberg. It's a home trial for the Broncos, each year they have a trial with the Cowboys. This year it was up at Mount Isa and in 2016 it will be here in Bundaberg." The BRL is hoping to host three games on the day, with the possibility of a Bundaberg representative side playing the Central Queensland Capras, as well as a representative women's or Under 18's side taking to the field. The idea was first raised two years ago when operations manager of QRL Central Division, Dave Pearce contacted Broncos CEO Paul White and head coach Wayne Bennett in the hopes of bringing a trial game to Bundaberg, to boost the city's morale after the devastating 2013 Australia Day floods. "[They] fully endorse coming here to Bundaberg. I never dreamed it would be a Cowboys v Broncos trial at that stage, but they were the two logical teams you need to get here because there is a lot of support for both teams in this area," Dave said. "My main focus was to put more positivity back into the general public around the Bundaberg area. I hope this has gone a long way towards that. "As everyone knows [Bundaberg has] been through quite a horrendous couple of years. "I hope this lifts their spirits, and a lot more positivity and confidence gets into the local economy." Tickets are expected to go on sale sometime in November.
