I was. I'm not even one of the Kevvie bashers - and I was his loudest supporter to replace Seibold - but, the early signs he is no master coach: 1. The bungling of Walsh, by far the standout player in the preseason. Bennett would not have let that happen. It's also hard to credit Kevvie with his return. 2. His failure to shape a halves combination out of Milford, Croft and Dearden. I have never seen a worse mess in the halves than the shit Kevvie served up with those three. All of whom were highly talented. If Kevvie (and Alfie) should know anything, it would be how to get the most out of halves. He hasn't. And that includes Adam and Ezra. 3. His appalling mistreatment of Dearden, demoralizing and breaking him as a player, and driving him away from the club. Promising winger Xavier Coates soon followed. Is it Kevvie's fault Tom didn't blossom as expected? I think the answer to that is yes. Another coach managed it. 4. Hiring his son as a replacement, but failing to get him from the Tigers immediately. Which backfired when Billy failed in the halves yet was shoehorned a permanent place in the side at dummy half, a position he admits he's not comfortable with. 5. His failure to secure/train a hooker/utility combination of any class, leaving us with his son as a fill-in, and then getting him a further extension. The light at the end of that tunnel might be Blake Mozer, but he's just as likely to get the same treatment as Dearden. 6. Jake Turpin following the same path as Dearden, Croft and Milford. Another broken (seemingly) uncoached player sent elsewhere, ironically to a rich club higher up the table. 7. Likewise the Tyson Gamble schmozzle. 8. Failing to create anything resembling a fullback out of his first choice fullback in Tesi Niu. 9. Payne Haas running a lot, but not doing much. 10. The bench, a serial case of WTF rotating around his son taking turns at hooker. 11. The record breaking blowouts towards the end of 2022. As for his greatest success: poaching Adam Reynolds. Let's not overlook he was rejected by his own club, and gifted to us by Wayne Bennett. We all love Adam, but it's yet to be seen whether he's actually worked out for us.
