I am often perplexed by the attitude people have that now a team is into the finals they need to go on an alcohol ban. In all my sporting life, I have often heard repeatedly "you don't change your routine just because it's now finals - stick with what got you there". This has always been told to me as a mantra for every part of your life, not just your training, pre-game build-up whatever. Therefore I would argue that if going out and getting drunk on Saturday night after a Friday night win is what they have done all season - why should they change their routine? OK, I know this is an extreme case, however who is to say that if they didn't go out and get on the drink last Saturday night as they have done all season, it might adversely affect their performance this week because they haven't had that stress release they are used to. Personally I would prefer an attitude of off the drink all season rather than just once the finals start (But I know that's not going to happen). My personal opinion on the drinking (not the other alleged behavior) is that as long as it doesn't adversely affect their performance come next game time, and as long as it's not a breach of the Club's Code of Conduct, I'm not that bothered. My personal opinion on the other alleged behavior is that I personally would never engage in such things, as long as it's not illegal they are perfectly within their rights as people to do whatever they want. PROVIDED they also accept that they must accept the consequences and repercussions of that behavior. As far as the club's management of the week is concerned. I'm generally pretty happy, would have preferred them to make a statement sooner, but then again would have hated for them to make any statement without all the information.
