Yep. He’s a good one. Will hopefully keep some of the higher profile young guns grounded and will contribute plenty on the field as well.

The media's goal is obvious. They want the club to stay in it's place. That place is an also ran club. One that features in the finals but isn't a dominant force in the comp.

They see whats coming and they can't stand the thought of another decade of dominance. Badel seems to have a thousand articles just waiting in a folder. All contain 1 million dollar payday in it somewhere.

We have a bunch of rookies and our cap is under the spotlight. Just one glance at what the Roosters are putting on the field and any question regarding us should be laughed out of town.

But i want to truly know if they are buying into each other. Its a Melbourne style culture that generates success and benchmarks a level of effort, discipline and performance.
 
I think we're on the right track @007. How many of the young guys have spoken recently about taking less to stay together, about building something special? I'm getting a really good feel for this bunch of young'uns, and I really hope they do continue to build something special. If they keep playing for each other and improving themselves, the sky is honestly the limit for them. And what I like to see the most is the competitive spirit so many of them seem to have, the hunger...guys like Kotoni, Fifi...THAT is what wins games, THAT attitude is what makes the greats. Head down, work hard, compete in every play...we've been lacking that hunger to win in large parts of our squad in recent years, and it excites me no end that we're starting to get it back...

Having said that, I am concerned already about next year. With so many young players just finding their feet at NRL level, '2nd year syndrome' could strike us really hard. I hope that's unfounded, and instead the confidence they are building by realising they actually belong at this level will put them in good stead, but it's something I will be conscious of next year.

I think we have a good chance of that happening, especially when the kids see Haas perform the way he does and then claim he's happy on his current salary and that the squad needs to take pay cuts to be good.

EDIT: Inb4 screeching from down south and the deep south in a year or two when we're rolling sides and the NRL starts arbitrarily applying the market value rule to players off contract.
