Re: Round 16 Discussion I am pretty sure the "Pride of the League" tag has been around since the 40's. It is just a part of history of our team just like our colours. It is very much over used now days but why can't we be proud of our history? 20 premierships is still a great achievement and the calibre of teams are still on par but the game is completely different in the different eras of the game. Are you proud of the Broncos 6 premierships? What makes it any different? Just because you haven't seen Souths win a premiership doesn't mean it is any less an achievement. Plus is the 1992 GF win over the Dragons any less of a win than the Souths vs Newtown in 1955? The "this is our year" is usually media driven. They ask any former player or stooge for a comment and they give it to them. Then last round comes around and it blows up in their faces and us supporters have to listen to the typical "March premiers" tag. The problem is as fans we want success. We have been going through this tunnel for so long that we would like to come out the other side, we saw some light in 2007 but we quickly went back into another tunnel. The club went to privatisation as it was the only evolving step we had left. We had spent the past 20 years running the chook raffle way and the results speak for themselves. We had to become professional on and off the field. Which of our biggest rival did we follow their lead? Roosters, Bulldogs, Manly? How many high profile names have we bought and what is actually wrong with that? 2007 there were a few names in that side but most were all past their best football, plus we still had juniors in the team and we still do now. Who have we actually bought without care of morals or ethics? Are our player signings actually any different to any other team? Is that part in regards to Inglis? Does it annoy you so much that out of choosing the Broncos or Souths, Inglis was offered something at Souths he prefered. It played out bad in the media but can we be sure that how it actually happened? I am fine with people hating Souths but frankly your reasons are pretty weak.
