He's got no real 5/8th to fall back on which honestly is perfect for him and the team. You're all constantly complaining about Hoffman at 5/8th but its working perfectly for this team. Griffin has a vision. A future plan. And its working, You're all too short sighted to notice it! Its forcing Hunt to be 100% committed throughout the 80mins to attack. Hook has touched on it before, Hunt tends to go quiet through periods of the game after showing signs of brilliance. With no one to hide behind, he is in charge. Soul responsibility.... Seriously, I can't even begin to comprehend how brilliant Hook's future vision has been. All hindsight sure, but give us a year or even two....I guarantee he will deliver us a premiership. I genuinely believe I can see the concepts falling into place that this "worst coach ever" has actually orchestrated. Take his NYC grand final appearance. Basically the side he has now...He's been building this team for the last three years. Without us really knowing it, we've been in a re-building stage as soon as we lost locky....let me explain............... He always knew Hunt would become the halfback he's turning into at NRL level. I was with you all, hating on Wallace, wanting something great to come along in the halves since Locky. I actually remember the day they announced Ben Hunt (before I really knew he was a genuine halfback), and just appalled we'd signed him on again. Then I found out about him winning player of the year for under 20's.....I thought, hang on, wtf?? Him?? A bench hooker who comes on and just passes the ball?? Contributes nothing? The Ben Hunt I knew at this point in time, was during the days he ran on as bench hooker which infuriated me. I'd see Macca come off, him come on and be a wasted interchange. We then gave him a chance late last year when Wallace had finally convinced us all he was worth nothing but a high ball. No leadership, no creativity, pure crap. Ben Hunt started showing us signs that he could actually play footy. Watched him against Newcastle and NQ and I thought, wow, where has he been?! wtf hook, why hinder his development as a bench hooker?! Should have had him directing a team around in Q cup we all thought. Building confidence in a lower grade - we all agreed? But...this year, especially Friday night...we saw what a fantastic defender he is. A small halfback like him. Tackling massive back and front rowers one on one! Including big Willie! watch the replay if you don't recall....what a display of ability and belief! I whole heatedly believe this defense has come from his time being blooded at hooker. Stick him in the thick of it. force him to make tackles constantly. You guys have just started touching on the mental toughness of this guy. Where do you think that came from?? Honestly? Probably sitting on the sidelines for most of the game watching a wanker like Wallace waste opportunities in the position he dreamed longingly to make his own. Don't you think, that once this guy got his chance at playing 7, after game upon game of waiting in the cold that he would make the most of it!? He is. And this is a mental and physical toughness I reckon we can commend the coach for. He wants his NYC grand final team that he had great success with. Hunt at 7 means Macca is finally playing 80mins. He too is finally coming into his own as a hooker; fulfilling his potential. We've trimmed the fat in this team. Now we are building hard and fast into the future. Could you imagine if Ben Hunt was a NSW heritage player? I dare say his name would be popping up right now as a candidate for origin. The same can be said for Jarod Wallace. What a game he had Friday night! Flew under the radar...but come origin time, wow he's going to be a revelation! And Oates. Wallace was offloading at will. Very dangerous! And you all criticised Hook's game plan there too....putting him on the bench and not using him at all for the first few rounds? Far out is it working! Means now, when he finally gets a run, he's making the most of it yall! Wow he has impressed me in both defense and the little touches he's had. Also having him not run on has seen the rest of the players lift. Fitness and intensity. They're playing a full 80 now. Last year, we all agreed fitness was a shortcoming. This year? Since Corvo has come on board...we are winning games with three bench players. Wow. What a forward thinking game plan that's been! Now, come origin, these bench guys like Oates and Wallace who are now starting to see more minutes, will really try to prove their worth when we have Hodges, Parker, Thaiday and Gillette out. I am tipping out best origin period yet! What a year we will have next year if we continue to build on all this. WITH the addition of Milford. WOW Hook, I tip and raise my hat. HEck, I even bow to that sh1t! [/QUOTE]
