So I am surprised that this hasn't got it's own thread.

The cops have named 3 Cowboys players in a report (not publicly).

Gambling is a blight on the game and it should be ceased immediately imho. Maybe you can have a win/lose type punt available, but anything more than that just is just asking for trouble.

I'm not at all for stopping betting in anyway.

I hope any player involved is de-registered for life in the NRL and ESL.

This would be why it doesn't have a thread already. At the moment it's just rumours circulating - not even the media are prepared to report it yet, and we all know how they like to jump the gun on reporting anything.

I have heard rumours that it's going to come out after the GF (cowards).
But the Media are itching to start reporting on it...as evidenced by these 2 articles....

I hope they are banned for life too. from ALL professional sports. LIke drug taking.

Yeah they are kind of reporting it, but not prepared to name names (even "allegedly, the all time fave journalistic cop out) - which is highly unusual.

I do agree that if any players/agents/coaches/club owners etc are PROVEN to be involved in illegal betting or match fixing or tampering then they should be banned for life.

Love the excuse that the punters always use, "I was putting a bet on for someone else", like the drug cheats, someone put it in my drink or I didn't know it was on the banned list. FFS we need some examples made of these cheats.

It must be pretty serious for the journo's not to name names, because they probably don't want to damage the police evidence etc.

The police haven't named 3 Cowboys players in a report.

The article says the following:
"Three Cowboys players have been named in material obtained by NSW State Crime Command detectives."

The article later states that the 'material' they have obtained is the text message that is doing the rounds.
