Re: BHQ Gambling Association - DO NOT LINK TO BETTING WEBSITES I haven't been betting huge amounts per arb though. Usually around the $500 mark (although I guess "huge" is subjective). The profit just comes back to the % of the arb really. I don't even bother on anything less than 1%. Some can be quite high. I got on an NBA arb a few weeks back that was 13%. That's a $65 profit on a $500 risk free* bet. Profits can add up pretty quick if some good % arbs are found. The other thing I have made a fair bit of money on is sides and middles. These come about with line bets where different bookies have a different idea of what the line will be. In some cases there can exist a scenario where you can win both bets (middle) or win one and have one refunded (side) for a very small outlay. As an example, on last weeks titans-knights game, one bookie I'm with was offering $1.90 for the knights to win with a -1.5 handicap. Another bookie was offering the titans to win with a +2 handicap at $2.10. That means you can get on both sides of the bet with a .25% loss. Could put $100 on the $1.90 bet, $90.47 on the $2.10 bet and at worst you'll return $190 either way, so a loss of 47c based on the $190.47 outlay. However, if the knights win by exactly 2 points, you still return $190, but the $2.10 bet gets refunded, so have only outlayed $100, so a $90 profit. So essentially you are risking 47c to make a profit of $90. That's odds of 190-1. Compare that to the odds of putting a bet on the knights to win by exactly 2 points. * There are risks. I've lost a few bets due to my own mistakes, having bets cancelled etc. Just gotta be careful and pay attention, especially around the rules of different sports on different bookies (eg, what happens in the case of a draw, retirement of a player etc)
