Aborigines fall well behind the rest of Australia in so many categories, from general health, infant mortality, life expectancy, suicide rates, employment right through to education. they are one of the most disadvantaged communities in the developed world and in many areas you still find diseases (like trachoma) that are generally only endemic to 3rd world countries. Who cares whether they have the same 'rights' as the rest of Australia. They are an extremely disadvantaged community and they need people to champion their cause. whether Mundine is successfully doing that is a separate issue but they need someone to fight for them just as the African Americans did in the 70s [/QUOTE]
