Despite having a year to run on his current deal with the Warriors, the NRL journeyman is believed to be favouring a move home to Australia to see out his career. It comes as Sporting News' The Lurker revealed Green had met Broncos coach Anthony Seibold to explore the club's Red Hill facilities, with the Warriors happy to release the well-traveled number seven given the emergence of young halfback Chanel Harris-Tevita. After their struggles in attack in 2019, the Broncos have long been tipped to explore their options in the player market this off-season to provide support for young halves Tom Dearden and Sean O'Sullivan. The club were strongly linked to a move for Melbourne Storm number seven Brodie Croft, after coach Anthony Seibold was spotted meeting with the young halfback in Sydney back in October. However, despite Croft seemingly being out-of-favour with Craig Bellamy, after he was left out of the Storm's run home to the finals this season, the club have spoken publically about their plans to retain him. And according to The Daily Telegraph's Dean Ritchie, the Broncos are now rumoured to be considering a short-term deal for Green for next season. "The mail out there and the speculation continues is that they're having a sneaky peak at Blake Green," Ritchie told Sky Sports Racing's Big Sports Breakfast. "He's 33, they don't have a half, it'd be a one-year deal obviously just at the end of the contract for Green. He's still got one year to go at the Warriors, but just a suggestion around town that he might just be a fill in... until they can establish their halves up there. "I don't think personally it will happen but certainly there is some mail around town that Blake Green may be interested in one finale with the Broncos." Given the Broncos woes with the Steeden in hand in 2019, and with the club's young playmakers still finding their feet at NRL level, the acquisition of Green makes sense for Seibold's side. And premiership-winning great Laurie Daley endorsed the move for the 33-year-old, given his experience. "They need someone that's going to give them direction and help out young Tom Dearden," Daley told Big Sports Breakfast. "Dearden can't do it all on his own, they tried Milford last year, and Darius Boyd, that didn't work. Obviously Milford they believe will be a fullback so they need someone in that halves position for one-year. "If they got him for a reasonable price, he'd be a decent pick-up."
