Darius Boyd recovering quicker than expected DARIUS Boyd has not given up hope of finding his biological father, but the Broncos star has revealed the search he began late last year has “for the time being” been postponed. It is the sort of decision Boyd admits would have caused him great consternation in years past. “But I am comfortable leaving that for now. I have plenty of other things in my personal life that I need to continue to work on and then I have a professional life to start thinking about too,” Boyd said with a short laugh. “Having just got back into footy after a long time away — a long time for me anyway — to just get that taste of it before getting injured … I just realised how much I miss it and how much I love the game and love being in that team environment. “I was loving being back at the Broncos too and just at the moment I am trying to make sure I keep that enthusiasm and don’t let the disappointment of getting injured get me down and feeling sorry for myself.” Judging by the progress of Boyd’s recovery in the six weeks since he ruptured his achilles tendon during one of the heaviest conditioning sessions in Brisbane’s pre-season training schedule. In the past, such an injury has seen players sidelined for a minimum of nine months, with many spending a year or more in rehabilitation. Boyd is tracking to be back on the playing field inside of six months, with the club’s medical team this week removing his “moon boot”, which Boyd has worn since surgery. “It is my first major injury so I am just doing what the specialist tells me I can. I am not trying to push myself beyond the boundaries I am given but I have made sure I am doing every little thing I can to ensure my recovery time is as short as possible,” Boyd said. Publicly Boyd is reticent to put a definitive timeframe on his likely return to the NRL. However, it is understood he is looking at a comeback in early May — leaving him time enough to prove his fitness and form to Queensland’s Origin selectors. As much as he treasures the chance to wear the Maroons jersey, it is his first match back in Broncos colours which he says is driving his return. “Like I said I wasn’t back among the boys long but I was there long enough to realise what a special club this is and what a special group Wayne (Bennett) has put together here,” Boyd said. “It feels like I am home — that’s how I feel being back … like I have come home.” http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/nrl/darius-boyd-recovering-quicker-than-expected/story-fnca0von-1227195157226?nk=dda42b47eae6cdf7155af7bfc313eb48
