Brett Finch has shocked Parramatta officials by requesting an immediate release from the club to take up a lucrative offer in the English Super League.

Finch made the request late last night and Eels officials are expected to formally announce a release later this morning.

Well that has improved the Eels chances this year.

Although he was out of form, they do need him. He's not really a bad player.

Didn't see that coming.

Update.

Dumped Brett Finch to stay in NRL

Brett Finch could be playing with another NRL club within a fortnight after seeking a shock release from Parramatta last night.

Contrary to reports elsewhere, the livewire halfback will not accept a lucrative deal with a UK Super League club and hopes to play the rest of the season with another club in Australia.

It is believed that the final staw came when Finch was switched to hooker with 20 minutes to go in the Eels game against the Roosters last Friday night. Finch reportedly blew up on the field when he was give the orders

Apparently he's going to be revealing details of the feud he's had with Anderson at 1pm. Seriously, this guy has to be one of the biggest whingers the NRL has ever seen. What's the point in revealing the details? And is he so sooky that he can't handle getting his own way that it's come to this?

I wonder if Anderson said to Finch.

You are shyte & should never have been picked in any grade of football.

Finch: You do know who my dad is.

OK so it's not funny, but having about 4 hours sleep in several days, it seemed funny when typing it.

what team needs a halfback? maybe Penrith or Canberra are the most qualified.

parra will bring in Steve mortimer's nephew from under 20's who looks the goods.

Maybe he should take up refereeing, daddy will ensure an easy ride to the GF gig!!

They definitely need a 5/8th. And Brett Finch does an adequate impersonation of one.
