Best Player - Ben Hunt When I think about the Broncos in 2014, this is the name I'm going to think of and I believe he was by far the Broncos most dangerous player and it was a sight to see him really back himself and take it to the line. Best Forward - Josh McGuire Josh channelled his inner mongrel all season and was absolutely relentless in the middle of the ruck getting through plenty of work for his Broncos team mates. Best Back - Dale Copley Technically this should go to Ben Hunt since he was the Player of the Year, but Dale deserves some recognition for his efforts this season and it was great to see Dale put a miserable 12 months behind him with a stellar season. He really announced himself this season and I really look forward to see what he's capable of moving forward. Most Consistent - Josh McGuire I don't recall too many poor games from Moose. Rookie of the Year - Jake Granville Really had some nice moments this season. It's a shame to see him leave but wish him all the best. Defensive Play of the Year - Josh Hoffman on Cooper Cronk After doing extremely well to stop Tomkins the week prior, Hoffman backed it up with a great tackle on Cronk who looked to have scored for all money. Hoffman was determined to prove he was the #1 and with plays like that he really did put his best foot forward. Most Improved - Ben Hunt And probably the most improved out of anyone in the competition. To basically go from a understated bench hooker to one of the form halfbacks of the competition is phenomenal and Ben's improvement was easily one of the highlights of the season. Biggest Disappointment - Ben Barba A lot of Broncos fans, myself included, were extremely excited to see what Ben was capable of in a Broncos jersey but unfortunately his ankle kept causing him problems and we rarely got to see him at full flight. I expect bigger things from Ben but as far as 2014 is concerned it wasn't the strongest first impression. Try of the Year - Ben Barba vs Bulldogs R22 Fortunately Ben was able to achieve one highlight and that was scoring the best try of the season which saw the ball travel through multiple sets of hands before some quick thinking from Reed & Barba saw them combine for one of the most thrilling pieces of play of the season. Best Game - vs Manly Round 12 Against the minor premiers the Broncos ran rampant on a glorious Sunday afternoon at Suncorp Stadium. The Broncos played extremely well that afternoon and it was an absolute joy to watch and an advertisement as to why they should receive more Sunday afternoon games. Worst Game - vs Cronulla Round 16 The worst capitulation in the club's history and just a very disappointing evening on the whole. The Sharks had yet to score a point in two and a half games when the Broncos just fell asleep at the wheel and allowed the likes of Gallen and Carney to weave their magic. Easily ranks amongst the worst losses in club history and definitely one the fans couldn't forget quick enough.
