Best Player Corey Parker. Won't ever be accused of fading in and out of games and has THE best offload in the NRL. Leads from the front (I think we should revert back to one captain and he should be it) ...always taking the most HU's in the first quarter of the game....always there doing the same at the end. Seems to get genuinely pissed off and aggressive towards all opposing teams. Does everything I mentioned in spades, week in ...week out. Most valuable player in the team at the moment. IMO Best Forward Josh McGuire. Not far behind Parker for consistency. Gives it everything he's got. He's working hard on an offload......his work rate continues to expand and defensively, is one of only a few who can hold his head up at the end of season review. Best Back Very hard to split Ben Hunt and Justin Hodges. Both devastating in attack when on song. You want points out of your backs and both of these guys are the go to guys for that to happen. Hunt still has so many things to work on with his game...he's young and just beginning his NRL career. Hopefully what's deficient in his game now, will improve over time. Hodges time is nearing the end. If he could improve anything in his last year, it would be his selection choice of when to inject himself into a game and when to recognise he's too involved and that it's killing the team's momentum. Most Consistent Corey Parker Rookie of the Year I'll go Dale Copley. Not really a rookie but he's had so many injuries and so little NRL time prior to this year, that you could easily forgive him as being one. Powerful runner with great movement.....speed to burn. Went better than most will give credit for with his defence. His hands are still the one concern I have with his game. Definitely improving....but still has his moments. Defensive Play of the Year I'm so disgusted with the teams overall defence that I can't honestly name one. Most Improved Daniel Vidot. I only caught a glimpse of him playing at the raiders and for the merge. He's surprised me. From what I previously thought of him (not very much) to this years performance...he's improved. Really need to work on his overall game as a winger, in every department. Biggest Disappointment Ben Barba. Was really looking forward to that one bit of spark.....that one bit of individual brilliance that Brisbane have been severely lacking in over the last few years. I thought his addition could make us a real threat in the competition again. So .. so let down by Barba. At times he looked devoid of all footballing ability. Martin Kennedy. Was hoping for a bit more muscle...a bit more size....a bit more aggressiveness amongst out forward pack. The Martin Kennedy who played in the last few rounds (sans dropsies) was the guy we needed from the outset of the season. Too little ..way too late. Try of the Year R22 Ben Barba's effort just before half time. For once this season, Barba kept himself in the play after he'd been tackled and was rewarded with a good try. Pity this was a one off....more of it could have made so much more of a difference to our season. Best Game R22 against the Dogs. Kasiano was running riot in the opening 10 mins. It looked like it was going to be a tough day at the office. To surge forward and smash them 41-10 was a great effort. I despise Bulldog fans. Worst Game Hard to go past giving up that lead to the Sharks. Fucken woeful. Buy of the Year Daniel Vidot
