Fair points you've raised and I agree with a lot of your points about the players. I think the players need to be held accountable but the coach isn't dropping the way underperforming overpaid players and instead effectively drops the one guy who was trying his guts out in Isaako. Isaako isn't a fullback but he was the least of the backline problems. The most experienced guy is also in the backline and hasn't been even average very often since 2016. Again, a lot of these regressions were happening before the coach got here but it is hard to argue they haven't sped up alarmingly since. What I want to know is what happened between rounds 2 and 3 off the field. This is the big question for me. It is hard to argue the coach hasn't lost the dressing room but the bigger question is why? They were playing really well in the first two rounds, Milf looked trim and focused for example. Since the break, none of them (save for Haas and Coates) look fit. They all look unfit, they all look disinterested and they all look like they couldn't care less. Why? What happened? Why won't the coach drop/demote to the bench the guys who need to be made an example of in Boyd and Oates/Milford? Why is there no semblance of structure whatsoever? Why are the players doing such a poor pre-game routine? Attitude is on the players but team structure/cohesion is on the coach and has been poor, that can't be argued. I suspect he is trying to be all new age and fancy but this side are way too dumb and way too lazy to handle it. A good coach should recognise this and adapt. He needs to bring back the basics like ball control, line speed and legs tackling. This is all this side can currently handle and yes, that is on the players. If he can't adapt (which when you look at his bench usage, is clear he can't) then get someone in at least who won't take half-hearted performances or at least has shown they can nurture kids - hence my preference of a Toovey-Griffin tag team. Or even a Kevvie-Griffin team. Either way, I want Griffin back just not necessarily as head coach.
