He then finished the match on the wing and showed his usual finishing ability to score a try out wide as the clock wound down. He has now proved to himself that he can play in either position. Just where that will be is up to coach Wayne Bennett as the Broncos eye next week's NRL season opener against the Dragons. "I felt really good today," said Oates after the match. "In Toowoomba (against the Titans last week) I found it hard to get going. "But I was really happy today - I felt like I had a lot more energy. "Although not a lot of ball came my way, I was happy with my talk and movement. "That's what it is is - getting some confidence in myself to know I can still go hard in the middle or on the edge. "I was happy th the finish on the wing too. "I was happy to get the stint in both positions and really happy with the performance." Jamayne Isaako has also put his hand up for inclusion on the wing against the Dragons, setting up a try against the Hunters. Isaako has spent the trials at fullback, but with Darius Boyd fit to play in round one, he will be hoping to earn a berth on the flank.
