He's here now because he took a paycut on his last 2 contracts to stay here. People would have bitched about him if he jumped ship to a better contract, but he stayed loyal. To me a smart contract move now would be to upgrade him, and possibly extend him because if he has another dominant Origin series on top of another good year that $100k a year is going to turn into $250k a year if we want to keep him. Injuries are part and parcel of the game and tbf, he didnt do his MCL this year, it was a result of another player attacking his knee illegally. The suspension as well was a bit of a joke. We all know it, he got made an example of but we should be strong enough to cope without one player anyway. Thats a weakness we have as a team. And if the worst we get is him having a beer when he shouldnt we would be in a better shape as a club. I'll take that every day over the serial offenders who have got away with shit because they are supposedly our star players. This thing about taking a pay cut because you get injured or suspended is a bit odd to me. As i said before, if you take money off a player for things like that then if you out perform your contract then it should work the other way, you get a pay bump. Cant have it both ways. [/QUOTE]
