Not a terrible signing. I was a fan of Hayze's coming through the grades but he hasn't kicked on in the top grade. Still, there's some versatility there (can cover fullback, centres and five eighth) so it makes sense. As far as the training contracts go. Vaihu always appeared on the cards as soon as he emerged for the Magpies. He was one of those names that immediately grabbed the attention of a few members on here and although he was quite raw he had some great touches for Souths. I'm happy with the Tristan Powell signing. I've been screaming out for a Liam Henry type of signing and Powell fits that mould as he was a junior here before trying his luck at the Gold Coast and Storm. He's just a good honest toiler and coming to the club as a 24 year old, he has a few pre-seasons behind him now. Hopefully he can find another gear and provide some depth. Ronald Philitoga maybe the best signing of the lot. You've always got my attention if you can score tries and at 12 tries in 10 games, Philitoga certainly makes the short-list. I don't want to get too carried away, but I wrote a few months ago that I want to see a bolter in the outside backs, if he has a great pre-season there's no reason why you wouldn't have him in the mix. I've always had a soft spot for Gehamat and hoped it would all click for him. I don't mind bringing him and Powell back for an opportunity. Lord knows the Broncos could use the depth and if Gehamat finds his feet you've got a handy defensive centre. I'm curious to see which juniors will get a chance to mix it up this pre-season.
