The average NRL player's career is 43 games; so to commit to someone for potentially 150 games is a long way above average. In the past it hasn't paid off. It isn't just financially it can cost you but also what you lose to keep players, like Thurston. He was never going to hang around while Sherwin and Anasta were sewn up long term.
