Haven't seen this mentioned yet No Cookies | The Courier-Mail THE Brisbane Broncos have another option in the halves for season 2014, with the signing of Zach Strasser from affiliate club Redcliffe Dolphins. Strasser, the son of former Brisbane Rugby League identity Ziggy Strasser, has impressed in the Queensland Cup this season - his first full year in the side after playing for Redcliffe's premiership winning Colts team in 2012. Rumours have swirled about the Broncos' roster for 2014 with Anthony Milford and Ben Barba headlining a list of potential candidates to add some attacking spark on the field. Strasser, 20, weighs in at 85kg, measures up with the Broncos' veteran props Scott Prince and Peter Wallace but has a slight height advantage over both at 182cm. The young halfback has signed a two-year deal with the Broncos, which will start in the preseason. Broncos great Petero Civoniceva has captained the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Intrust Super Cup this year and told the Herald that Strasser, among others, was one of the young Redcliffe players who deserved a spot at the Broncos. Former Broncos halfback Shane Perry, who once captained the Redcliffe Dolphins, has only words of praise for Strasser."I know Zach and I do a bit of work with the halves at Redcliffe, with kicking and that," Perry said. "I've kept an eye on him and I think he will go well if he knuckles down in preseason. "I had a chat to Hook (Broncos coach Anthony Griffin) about him and he is one of those naturally-gifted players, of a similar mould to Daly Cherry-Evans. "He seems to have a lot of time with the ball and goes to the line well. "Good halves always seem to have a good amount of time with the ball. "Defensively he is pretty good too but it won't hurt him to put a bit of weight on."
