Ikin told broncos.com.au the pair were evoking the club’s values from the Brisbane glory days, looking to use the history as a catalyst to drive the Broncos’ ascension back to the summit. “Kevvie Walters was my captain in 2000, we won the premiership here at the Brisbane Broncos,” Ikin said. He loves to enjoy what we do and that will effectively be the basis for what we do going forward.” Ikin’s appointment came in the aftermath of Brisbane’s 46-0 defeat to South Sydney as part of a mid-season reset, but the former Queensland representative has stopped short of declaring the current phase a rebuild. “This project we've undertaken at the moment, even though the Broncos have had a few rough years, isn't so much about a rebuild,” Ikin said. “It’s about remembering who we were when we were at our best and rediscovering that.
