[QUOTE="1910, post: 2632268, member: 8272"] Thursday 23 October 2014 The my FootDr Queensland Bulls have replaced injured batsman Usman Khawaja with 19-year-old Ben McDermott for tomorrow’s Matador Cup elimination Final against arch rivals NSW at Blacktown. Khawaja is seeing a hand specialist in Sydney today to determine the extent of a thumb fracture suffered while scoring his second consecutive century in the Matador Cup yesterday in the win over Western Australia. McDermott, a wicket-keeper and top order batsman, flew to Sydney this morning and will train with the Bulls today at the SCG. He will wear jumper number 28 if he makes his Queensland debut tomorrow in the day/nighter. An Australian Under-19 World Cup representative last year, McDermott played for the Brisbane Heat in BBL|03. He is the younger brother of Bulls and Heat pace bowler Alister McDermott and son of former Test quick Craig McDermott. The Wynnum-Manly right-hander spent the winter playing in England as part of Cricket Australia’s scholarship program and enjoyed a solid pre-season with the Bulls and Queensland Academy of Sport, including 63 against the touring ICC World Cup side Scotland earlier this month. The final line-up for tomorrow’s match will be determined once the team inspects the pitch at Blacktown, which will be the first time in the tournament they have played at the venue. Khawaja is the leading runs-scorer in the tournament so far with 523 runs at 74.71,while fellow opener Chris Hartley has 400 runs at 66.67. The winner of tomorrow night’s game will meet WA in Sunday’s Final at the SCG. Matador Cup Preliminary Final my FootDr Queensland Bulls v NSW, Blacktown International Sports Centre, 2pm (NSW) start: James Hopes (c), Cameron Boyce, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Peter Forrest, Jason Floros, Cameron Gannon, Peter George, Chris Hartley, Ben McDermott, Nathan Reardon, Mark Steketee, (one to be omitted, 12th man to be named).
