I want to say firstly that I agree with everything in this post. Let me break down the points as well: 1. The name calling of the coach is atrocious and I have not once joined in them because it is disgraceful. There is no need for it and it is so so childish. The guy is clearly out of his depth but there is no need to be so rude about it and this mob mentality is pathetic. Pies is such a dumb nickname and it is no surprise when you consider who started it. 2. The players are very much at fault, I don't think anyone who is being honest would suggest otherwise but rightly or wrongly, it is easier to get rid of the coach first. I feel really sad about this but Brisbane needs to actually learn lessons from the Titans here. Their self-arrogance and self-righteousness, sense of entitlement and pure incompetence though means that from the board down they probably won't. The Titans needed to move BOTH Henry AND Hayne on, so they did but they then chose the wrong coach to come in and still had the same board making the same dumb decisions by bringing in overrated players on big contracts. So the point is, the team needs to remove the coach AND the revolters / horrible examples - Milford, Boyd, Joffa. The problem is no one wants them. They also have a lot of other deadwood on inflated contracts but that is another story. This will take far longer because, again following the TItans lead, you need to recruit the right replacements. 3. The coach is ALSO a problem and whether it is inability or unwillingness, he cannot get this side to fire, to put in effort or fix the same problems that are coming up again and again and again. Players coming in from their wings, players not putting shoulders in close to the line, players dropping balls, players giving away dumb penalties, players being shifted every week, holding back players who are ready AND want to play for the coach it seems - Dearden, Kennar, Kennedy and Paix for example. There is absolutely no consistency in the side whatsoever and the players are totally confused by a coach who is just throwing hand grenades and hoping for a quick fix. It is though he is coaching via fantasy football. Players who are giving their all are not being supported by getting breaks they need. Accountability needs to start at the board level and flow down. Now the board deflect, so so does everyone else. To get rid of the coach as a minimum reflects poorly on them and they are putting self interest ahead of the club. Regardless, an unwillingness to get rid of the coach (who may well make it some day somewhere else) who has drowned, well past drowning, in the role needs to happen immediately. Bringing in a guy like Kevvie who may not be the best coach in the world, who knows, is super important on a SHORT-TERM deal. Let him keep coaching origin and bring him for the rest of this year and next. Then at the end of 2021 re-assess. If he has instilled a culture and a structure, back him in. If he hasn't, go after one of the gun coaches off contract - Bellamy, Robinson, Bennett even or whoever else has stood up by then. It is also the year Boyd, Bird, Lodge, Macca and Milf, maybe even TPJ too can finally be off the books (unless Bird stays fit and accepts a heavily reduced contract that is) and you can go to market and target what you need WITH the money to get it. At that stage, you've got a culture, accountability, structure and gun youth who are not ruined as they are being presently under this coach and the horrible example of the 'star' players.
