Yes, yes, I know - the 'Sydney' media awards but it's basically the closest thing we've got to a Player of the Year type ceremony and I thought it'd be interesting to get your thoughts on who you believe are the best players in the following categories...

Player of the Year:
Fullback:
Winger:
Centre:
Five-Eighth:
Halfback:
Prop:
Hooker:
Second-Rower:
Lock:

Provan-Summons (People's Choice):

Representative Player of the Year:
Coach of the Year:
Captain of the Year:
Headline Moment of the Year (Peter Frillingos Memorial Award):
Top Pointscorer: Johnathan Thurston
Top Tryscorer: Jarryd Hayne

Toyota Cup Player of the Year:

Would love to see Hayne get player of the year. His performances for NSW were superb and carried the serial wooden spooners almost to a finals spot whilst consistently producing big games and stats.

Player of the Year: Jarryd Hayne (Johnathan Thurston)
Fullback: Jarryd Hayne
Winger: Semi Radradra (Alex Johnston)
Centre: Dylan Walker
Five-Eighth: Johnathan Thurston
Halfback: Cooper Cronk (Trent Hodkinson)
Prop: James Graham
Hooker: Cam Smith (Issac Luke)
Second-Rower: Greg Bird (Josh Jackson)
Lock: Sam Burgess

Provan-Summons (People's Choice): Jarryd Hayne
Rookie of the Year: Luke Brooks
Representative Player of the Year: Jarryd Hayne
Coach of the Year: Ivan Cleary
Captain of the Year: Cam Smith
Headline Moment of the Year (Peter Frillingos Memorial Award): NSW break the streak
Top Pointscorer: Johnathan Thurston
Top Tryscorer: Jarryd Hayne
Toyota Cup Player of the Year: Sam Lisone (Te Maire Martin)

In brackets is my prediction of the journos choices.

Worth noting too that we're supposed to assume that voting closed after R26 so for an award like Coach of the Year, none of Hasler's work SHOULD count although really it should give him the edge over Ivan.

One thing these awards are famous for are trying to load up and give a bunch of players an award even if they're not really deserving. So I reckon we'll see a bunch of Rabbitohs and Bulldogs players pick up awards even if really there were better candidates.

Bullshit! Did you watch an Eels game? I feel sorry for the rest of them because this selfish prick gets all the recognition.

Yeah, the Eels for mine are a completely different team to a year ago. Certainly without Hayne they aren't as good, but they no longer solely rely on him. They do alright these days considering they are also carry 100kg of dead weight in the form of Corey Norman

The Eels play to a brilliant, simple structure that plays to their strengths. Junior Paulo second man play at the line out the back to Hayne/Norman..

Guys like Manu M'au and Kenny Edwards and Pauli Pauli will be unreal next year with a whole pre-season and season in first grade under their belts.

Corey Norman is absolutely useless, slow, shit footwork, shit passing, shit kicking. I seriously don't know how he is a first grade player or why the Broncos persisted with him.

At least Sandow has a pretty good upside every now and then to justify his massively over inflated contract.

NSW media will lay it on thick with the SOO bias.

Coach of the Year: Laurie Daley
Captain of the Year: Cam Smith (would have been Gallen 'cept for the juicin')

Top Pointscorer: Johnathan Thurston
Top Tryscorer: Jarryd Hayne
Toyota Cup Player of the Year: No idea

Bull****! Did you watch an Eels game? I feel sorry for the rest of them because this selfish prick gets all the recognition.

Yes I did and I thought his performances were superb and was likely leading all fullbacks in all statistics. Parramatta did lift themselves considerably but a far few games could've ended up differently if it wasn't for Hayne. I personally think your hate for him gets in the way of an impartial view.

And I personally think your love for him gets in the way of a non-bias view.

Hayne was excellent this year but he didn't carry the Eels anymore than JT did the Cows.

I reckon the Dally M rules will get changed next year if Hayne loses by 3 votes or less. They'll be whinging for days.

Please.

There's games wheres there's absolutely nothing happening for the Eels then Hayne pulls a linebreak out of his arse and scores a try, then does it again to win them the game.

He was consistently great this year, and they did rely on him more often than not after Peats & Ma'u carked it.

Coach of the year: Ivan Cleary

Rookie of the Year: Luke Brooks

Rep player of the year: Jarryd Hayne

Captain of the year: Jamie Lyon
