We didn't offer him a shit deal but you could tell he was frustrated with playing off the bench and being continually dropped to the Comets. It must have had a significant influence on his decision. What Sailor had to say about him: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 23,00.html "I haven't seen a forward with his ball skills since Arthur Beetson, that's who he reminds me of. I would honestly say he's the modern-day version of him. He has this special ability to get a ball free in traffic, you almost need to double-team him because he's too strong and powerful for one man." "Wayne said to me a month ago he has never seen a forward with Dave Taylor's ball skills. He just needed some confidence. Pressure doesn't seem to worry him too much.'' The guy needed both more minutes in first grade and to be used more effectively. At his age he obviously doesn't have the same work rate as a Petero or a Steve Price. He was never going to grind it out. He's got attacking flair and size that those guys don't have and what he needs is a coach who has the confidence in him to use him in a way he can exploit it. I think it's a short sighted view to assume he only went to Souths for the money. I'm sure Tallis did a good job of convincing him that if he stayed at the Broncos he risked spending more time on the bench or playing for the Comets vs. starting at Souths every week and that he's going to develop more as a forward playing against the best players (NRL) week in and week out.
