I think this is more manifested from the frustration of fans who have lost patience with Macca not evolving his game the last few years whilst we have brought in 2 guys this year that have shown a lot more of what we need form out No.9 Whether Macca is to blame or not, and obviously he wasn’t to blame for last night, he is still going to cop it a lot more because he is one of most experienced players who is not providing the team what it is lacking in. Same goes for Boyd. These guys are former rep players on big money who have a lot of experience and especially in Macca’s case, should be in the prime of their careers. So a serviceable game is not enough for fans to lay off them. Most fans aren’t stupid though, even the Macca haters would admit a lot of players were to blame last night. Biggest problem last 2 weeks has definitely been attitude and we do not have any good leaders at the club to fix this overnight. The term Macca hater is a bit rich too. I don’t think any of us actually hate the bloke, we are just frustrated and our agenda is we want what’s best for the team to get success week to week, the agenda is not who is playing 9. Success silences all doubters. If Macca plays out of his skin for next month and we won 3-4 games on the trot, I don’t think you’ll find many people hating on him. Most of the criticism he cops is self inflicted. My biggest disappointment with Macca is after playing Origin and being around those caliber of players I at least thought he would come back a better player. If anything he has regressed and become even more one dimensional. That is why whether you like it or not if we are losing games and not getting what we need out of 9 and Macca is involved, he is going to continue to cop it.
