Controversial finish aside, I didn't think either side deserved it. Manly were their own worst enemies through out the match and their play was riddled with errors. They've been able to get away with those blemishes but tonight they found out they cannot commit minor infringements and get away with it. They blew two tries that they should have had and left their charge too late. I criticised the Panthers attack, but the truth was the Sea Eagles attack wasn't great either. For all this talk of how great Trbojevic is, he kept hiding on an edge of the field to play a Darius Boyd role and went missing for the vast majority of the contest. The Panthers probably had the better of the ruck for the vast majority and Manly couldn't quite get a roll on going. I thought it was the Panthers evening all game. They had all the possession and field territory and yet they let the Sea Eagles score first through their own ineptitude. Individually I thought they played well and defensively they were much improved on last week. However there wasn't a lot to their attack and they relied heavily on Cleary's boot to get them home. I believe they only managed the one try off a rebound before they got their rubbish try at the death. At the end of the day that Tyrone Peachey try isn't the end of the world. However we can't allow this try to be considered acceptable. Peachey was rewarded for a mistake and one team was given the contest based purely on guess work from one senior official. Yes, the video referee had his hands tied because of the burden of proof but balance of probabilities leans heavily to it being a No Try and not a Try. Based on the performance tonight, I still think the Broncos can beat Penrith, but they cannot play like they did against the Roosters. If they do, Penrith will advance to Melbourne which would hurt them more than it would help them.
