FORMER PLAYERS everyone, former players!

I don't want to start reading arguments about Peter Wallace, Corey Norman, or basically anyone in the current squad.

This one's a bit harder for me than the other one, so I'm going to have a think about it and come back to the thread later on and post my thoughts.

It'd be nice if everyone gave some reasoning, rather than just naming names.

stu kelly
steve michaels
david stagg
shane perry
scott minto

all Bhq favourites funnily enough.

Ben Ikin- douchebag
Steve Michaels- I hate the line "he was good before his injury" what? no he wasn't. He just wasn't dogshit terrible like after the injury.

along with Josh Hoffman, those are the only 3 Broncos I have extremekly disliked. There are players I thought were shit like Minto but couldn't hate him coz he put in.

Really?

Steve Michaels was 50/50 on here I reckon... I thought he was shit too!

Stu Kelly got bagged a heap, and Shane Perry wasn't exactly everyone's cup of tea. I'm certain most people also acknowledged that Scott Minto was a pretty horrible winger too.

David Stagg, I'll give you. :handshake:

 This thread is going to start some arguments.

I'll start with...

Darius Boyd - Never forgave him for Round 3 2007 when all he had to do was dive on the ball. Instead he kicked it straight to Wesser which of course lead to Wallace kicking a field goal which basically lead to his hiring. Don't think anybody else in the club crabbed like he did.

He became a much better player when he left us but when he originally decided to leave I certainly wasn't upset.

David Taylor.

I still think the jury is out on whether he'll ever amount to anything in the game.

Karmichael Hunt. He was a solid fullback, particularly in defence but wasn't anything more than average most of the time. He seemed to get talked up on his ability to pointlessly throw in a step in his run up to the line before smashing himself into the defence (I can't remember that ever earning him extra meters). It looked cool seeing him take a hit up like that at the start of every one of our sets, but it was like a Michael Bay movie. All style and no substance.

Brent Tate. At Origin level he is immense but at club level I never liked him. Never passes to his winger.

I tend to agree.

I love how much effort he puts in when he plays, but he just hasn't been the same player since sustaining that neck injury - I wasn't disappointed at all when he left for the Warriors. His first few seasons for us were fantastic though. He's been hideously unlucky throughout his career, and showed great resolve to come back time and time again. For that, I admire him.

Neville Costigan used to annoy me a bit. I didn't hate him, but he frustrated the crap out of me. He had some decent qualities, but every single match he'd do something fucking stupid like drop a simple pass, or give-away a penalty at the worst possible moment, hence earning the nickname 'Costagame'. Then he got done for drink driving... glad he's gone.

i knew i forgot someone lol.

this x 10000. i did enjoy watching his kick returns though, but not for the reason most do. i enjoyed it because more often than not he'd get crunched. i'd lol.

I think Hunt started living up to his reputation late in the piece. Our struggles with having a fullback that can convert the 2nd man play into scoring opportunities since his departure I think shows how good he was in that area.

John Plath.

For no reason whatsoever - he just rubbed me the wrong way

Benny's favourites (blokes who got picked regardless of performance) Dane Carlaw, Stu Kelly, Neville Costigan, Scott Minto, Greg Eastwood, Joel Moon, Brad Meyers, Carl Webb
