McSweeney and Clayton probably the only 2 in the country you’d pick in the 3 or 4 role in terms of technique and batting style that are remotely performing but I wouldn’t be anywhere near selecting them. If Green or Labuschagne were to get injured you’d be moving Smith and Khawaja down and picking Bancroft, Renshaw and Harris up top before selecting those 2 at this stage in their careers. You might find McSweeney could get a crack but until his double 50’s he’d looked to have regressed in form a bit. That 6 role is quite unique in that you can include short form cricket results into the discussion whereas you can’t really elsewhere unless they have been particularly good at an international level with the back up of good red ball form in shield.
