MATT Gillett has labelled the experience of going between the Broncos and Maroons’ camps this year a “rollercoaster ride”. As the star forward aims to claim a clean sweep from this year’s Origin series, he has the struggling Broncos in the back of his mind. Brisbane have just one win from their past six matches, with Origin duty and injuries disrupting weekly preparations. But Gillett, Corey Parker, Josh McGuire, Darius Boyd, Corey Oates and Sam Thaiday have meanwhile enjoyed further success with Queensland. Gillett said it has been tough to help the Broncos through their rough patch. “It’s been a busy time of year, going back and playing club then coming back in to Queensland camp,” he said. “It’s a bit of a rollercoaster ... but we’ll be all right there at the Broncos. It’s just a tough time of year for everyone that has representative players and injuries and what not. “It’s no excuse, it’s just what happens in rugby league. Sometimes you get a bit of luck with no injuries but this year we’ve had a few in key positions.” Gillett is excited for the chance to claim a 3-0 whitewash against the Blues and hopes the Maroons success can carry over to Red Hill. “It might rub off on the boys,” he said. “They’ve had a bye this week so it will be good for a lot of them to get away from Brissie and refresh the mind a bit. They’ll be able to focus on life away from footy. “Once we come back all together, we have to focus on what we can do better. “Hopefully it will turn for us soon and we get that confidence back.” No Cookies | The Courier Mail
