Re: Griffin emerges as new supercoach Looks like Ben Dories is a broncoshq lurker - Griffin's coaching record to this point was mentioned by someone *cough cough* in the titans post game thread - not the first time a story of his has stemmed from a topic posted / discussed on this forum .. The thing I've enjoyed most about the Broncos under Griffin's tenure is the team's consistency of effort and performance .. The old "get flogged one week, bounce back the next week, then fail to turn up the week after that" is pretty common characteristic among a lot of sides in the NRL nowadays .. This current Brisbane side has become one of the select couple of teams that doesn't fall into that pattern - and that's all on the coach imo. Griffin has the team turning up hungry and playing with maximum effort every week .. Even those great brisbane teams under wayne bennett used to go through motions and drop games they shouldn't at times, so for brisbane supporters who's been there since day one, what we're seeing now is a bit unique. It's interesting that some folks here are suggesting the broncos still haven’t really beaten anyone of note and proven themselves as a top-of-the-pile premiership contender .. Well, it's funny how expectations have changed isn't it? Eighteen months ago I doubt many here were using the same yardsticks as they are now. Even before a ball was kicked this season it was all about simply being competitve without Lockyer .. Eight weeks in we're suddenly wanting to know whether we're better than Melbourne and Manly. Winning premierships nowadays has such a small margin for error .. You can be great all year, be up by 10 points in the preliminary final with 10 mins left and a couple of bad bounces or crossfield bombs later your season can be over - so it's really pointless declaring any team's likely fortunes in a comp that's so amazingly close. But if your team is "turning up" 9 times out of 10 and playing at or near it's potential, then the footy season is going to be a pretty damn enjoyable one to watch - and that's what we as broncos supporters have at the moment. * having said all that, I've probably now laid the verbal groundwork for shocker on saturday night :cuckoo:
