The Broncos today announced that Griffin’s tenure had been extended for another two years to include the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He had already been contracted until the end of next year. “This provides our players, staff, members, supporters and sponsors with certainty about Anthony’s commitment to the club and our commitment to him,” said Broncos’ chief executive Paul White. “As a club and a business, one of our key aims is to make sure we have the right people in the right job. “Anthony has shown he is a very talented coach and man manager at the NRL level and we have been impressed with his contribution not only to the team as a coach, but to the club as a whole. “One of his greatest qualities is his ability to distance himself from short-term decision making and put the long-term goals of the club at the forefront of his process. “He has stood by those bold decisions and made them work, and in doing so he has provided a safe and stable environment for everyone here at the club.” Griffin began his tenure at the Broncos as NYC coach in 2008, the first year of the under-20 competition, taking them to the grand final. He made the preliminary final the next year with that squad before becoming assistant coach of the NRL team in 2010. Griffin took over the NRL head-coaching role in February last year and led the Broncos to the preliminary final, losing to eventual premiers Manly.
