I'm just a bit confused why you felt like adding it to the end of your statement when it wasn't really relevant. But my 2 cents: I think Klemmer looked decent by simple virtue of being the second of two props chosen (the other being Woods), yet still couldn't start over Thaiday and Papalli, who weren't even props. Australia was short on decent workhorse props, so they picked a bench prop who barely played 20 minutes a match for his club side and started second rowers as props instead. Josh McGuire would have been a great selection for Australia, and whilst playing for Samoa, was easily one of the best players of the comp, and showed his versatility by playing hooker, prop, and lock at various stages. And whilst I disagree that Klemmer should have been picked full stop, I think it is irrelevant because if I were to have removed a player from the squad to accommodate McGuire, it would have been one of the heap of second rowers in the squad that were barely used over Klemmer. But regardless, McGuire would have been a far more useful addition to the squad as he is more experienced, can play greater minutes, has better defense, and was more versatile player than Klemmer. He would have been starting prop material, something Klemmer clearly wasn't, nor isn't, at least yet. Klemmer certainly has a bright future, but was one of the many forced selections by Sheens as some cheap attempt at blooding youth way too early. And Australia lost as a result of his poor selections.
