For me what our biggest issue has been is the type of player at the club. There is a certain attribute that some players have that I can't quite name, and our lack of this kind of player has bothered me for awhile. It's an intangible that I can't explain but will try to via example. Lockyer had it more than any player I know of, Smith has it. Previously we had guys like Webke, Tallis, Tate, and more recently Parker. Hodges had a lot of it. Thaiday kind of has it, but whatever 'it' is has been fading in him for the past few years. It's players that ARE the club. Bulldogs had (and have made a huge mistake losing) Graham, and Reynolds. Storm - smith, Cronk Cowboys - JT&JT, Scott, Morgan Eels - Norman, Gutho Roosters - Pearce Souths - Burgess, Inglis, Reynolds Manly - DCE, Trbo bros Warriors - Mnnering, Johnson It's not just skill or leadership, it's a different thing, it's an embodiment of the club. It's the player that all that teams fans indentify with. Outside of Gillo, Boyd, Thaiday who do you really see as a true Bronco in our current squad? Who is the player that typifies the club? Milford? Moose? Where is strong personality to build a culture around? Who do I emotionally invest in as a fan? Outside of that shpeal I think third is pretty good, especially with all our spine reshuffling. I think we are just short a big line bending prop and a controlling half.
