Seeing the form of Tariq Sims this year and him winning the toyota cup player of the yr, I can't help but wonder how we let him go. When they were interviewing him he was saying how he wished he made his debut at the broncos and did not seem all that happy to be leaving us. Which also makes me think why him and a few others did not get a run when we were struggling for go forward. Nick kenny when he returned from injury seemed a shadow of the player last yr who made the Aus train on side. Scott Anderson had some good games here and there but sometimes did not do much to get us going forward. Mitchell Dodds I like him as a player, he is a great defender but as a front rower really offers nothing in terms of taking the ball up. He is lucky to make 3 hit ups when he comes on, and as a front rower it's not really good enough.
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on why other players were not given a go again. Dave Hala seems to have alot of potential and in 09 he was starting to get a run but really wasn't seen this yr. The games I saw redcliffe play this yr Hala's running game looked great and i think he could have made an impact off the bench. Matt Britt had good form in the trials but was never spotted through the yr. Even Ashton Sims and Lagi Setu seemed to be banished from the first grade side.
I don't know what it is. Whether they weren't in good enough form, but then again a few guys in the last few rounds were in terrible form. Or is it a coaching problem that the right decisions are not being made. I have criticised Henjak a fair bit but softened up on him when we were starting to put things together. But there are always some decisions that I question that he does and I go back to thinking is he the right man to take the team forward. You only really have to look at how Steve Michaels has been playing for the Titans to think does he help with the confidence of any of the blokes who aren't in form? Michaels went from looking like a bloke who never belonged in first grade again to being a really good player for the titans.
Interested to see what people think about any of those things. I know the coaching situation is talked about in other parts and I don't really want this to be about Henjak. Just am curious to see about guys like Hala and Britt if anyone knows. I am still at a loss to see how we let go of Sims if he has that much potential and seems to have been keen to stay.
