Don't know if it's been posted.

BRISBANE’S depth will be further tested over the State of Origin period after it was confirmed hooker Andrew McCullough will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a broken thumb.

McCullough suffered the injury in the Broncos’ shock 19-18 NRL loss to Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

A Brisbane spokesman said McCullough may require surgery next week and would be sidelined for at least a month.

McCullough had only just returned from a serious hamstring injury.

Re: Andrew McCullough breaks thumb v Tigers, out up to six weeks, may need surgery

Yeah it's been posted in a few threads, probably warrants a thread of it's own though.

We may need to look outside the box for a Hooker, I don't think we can survive with Waddell for 4-6 weeks and our Origin players being rested. Heck I'd be giving the Titans a call to see what Kierran Moseley's future looks like now that they've got Peats.

Well l for one am perfectly happy to see Waddell come in and do the job. Somehow I think people simply did not bother watching Waddell over the last three halves of football he played. He was good without being exceptional.

Is Berrell injured or just not ready? We really have zero depth at hooker...

Good opportunity for Waddell.

After making his club debut, he should be more settled and able. As long as he does his job he'll be a handy inclusion for the Broncos, especially with livewire Kodi Nikorima coming off the bench.

It would not surprise me to see Kodi make a name for himself over the coming month. In Round 10, he helped Brisbane regain momentum against the Sea Eagles and with a defined role the speedster should relish.

I wish McCullough a speedy recovery, but there's still plenty to be excited about as a Broncos fan.

Hes had a defined role for 12 rounds off the bench. Im not sure that even makes sense. Umm making a name for himself? Doesnt he need to start in a position 1 to 13 to do that?

While dummy half has been his primary position, Bennett likes to keep Kodi on his toes. One week he maybe asked to fill in at lock forward, another he could be in the backs, next he could be in the halves - Kodi doesn't know until the trainer tells him what Wayne wants him to do.

With McCullough injured, Kodi will have more responsibility and opportunity to break the game wide open. As a Broncos fan, I can't wait to see the type of magic Kodi produces.

I'm not really interested in Maccas's replacement producing magic, I'd just like to see whoever it is defend soundly and not throw a single forward pass...

Jesus! Cam Smith consistently throws forward passes although he only occasionally gets pinged for them. I think Waddell got pinged once but ffs, they happen every game and there isn't a player out there who hasn't thrown them. As for defence, go and look at Waddells stats ....maybe then you'll actually watch him rather than make your mind up and glance at the evidence later...that sort of stupidity should just be left for religion!!!

Waddell was super lucky to only get pinged for the one forward pass. He threw three in one set alone vs the Sharks lol. And for a guy with pretty limited attack I thought his defence was pretty ordinary, and it's not just missed tackles but his overall effectiveness.

It was Waddell's first NRL game in nearly two seasons, against the form side of the competition, on their home ground in a game where most of the Broncos were below their best.

He deserves to be cut some slack.

His second game was an improvement and cause for optimism. As long as he can hold the fort for Kodi, he'll be of good service to the club.

So this ! In fact, it was only his first stint that was average, thereafter he did a fine job. Not a superstar but clearly not out of place. His next three halves of football were quite good.
